Grade Calculator
Calculate your weighted grade, or find out what you need on the final exam.
How the weighted grade is calculated
Each assignment's score is multiplied by its weight, and the results are summed and divided by the total weight entered. This means the calculator normalizes automatically even if your weights don't add up to exactly 100%.
How the final exam score is calculated
Your overall grade is a mix of your current grade (weighted by everything except the final) and your final exam score (weighted by the final's own percentage). Rearranging that relationship gives the exact score you need on the final to reach your desired overall grade.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if the required final exam score is above 100%?
It means reaching your desired overall grade isn't mathematically possible, even with a perfect score on the final - the calculator will tell you the best overall grade you could still achieve.
Do my assignment weights need to add up to exactly 100%?
No. The weighted grade calculator normalizes by the total weight you enter, so it works correctly whether your weights sum to 100%, 95%, or any other total.
